The number of registered players for each team has increased from 23 to 26, on par with the World Cup.
On October 17 last year, after the AFC Executive Committee officially selected Qatar to take over the 2023 Asian Cup, Qatar started preparations for the 2023 Asian Cup while preparing for the World Cup.
Before New Year’s Day, the AFC delegation negotiated with the Qatar Organizing Committee on the situation of the participating delegations in the Asian Cup.
According to the plan proposed by the Qatar Organizing Committee, firstly, the number of final registered players for each team of the 24 participating teams participating in the 2023 Asian Cup will be increased from 23 to 26, that is, it is hoped that the Asian Cup will be on par with the World Cup.
In addition, all players’ jersey numbers are from 1 to 26, of which 1 must be the goalkeeper’s number.
Secondly, regarding the staff of the participating delegations, the Qatar Organizing Committee proposed to add 10 places, that is, each team can add 10 more people on the basis of the original 20 people who have obtained the official certificates issued by the organizing committee.
For the plan proposed by the Qatar Organizing Committee, the AFC will hold a special meeting to study it.
In addition, in order to allow the participating teams to better prepare for the finals of the Asian Cup, the AFC has issued 200,000 US dollars of preparation funds to each team.
