According to Italian journalist Romano, Otamendi has no intention of joining Riverbed and Benfica has provided it with a two-year contract extension.
Otamendi’s contract with Benfica expires in June 2023 and Romano pointed out that the Argentine defender has done well in the World Cup and that Benfica has offered him a two-year contract extension, but negotiations have not yet reached an advanced stage.
Otamendi wants to stay in the Europa League and joining River Plate is not an option for him to consider.
