He brought the name of Brazil to the world through football, turning football into art and pleasure, and we mourn his death. -Brazilian President Bosonaro
……
He scored 1286 goals in 1363 career games, won the first goal of the World Cup at the age of 17 and won the World Cup three times.
Bailey, with his magical feet, wrote a magnificent epic in the green field, and created an unprecedented era.
History is still moving forward, and other protagonists continue to write the story, but the legendary Bailey will never be forgotten, just like a bright gem, even if it sinks to the bottom of the sea, it still shines brightly.
“I was born for football, just as Beethoven was born for music.”
In the ever-changing 1940, the British and German air forces were tense, the roar of fighters buzzed over the English Channel, and an unprecedented air duel dyed the sky black, like the sunset in hell.
Nazi iron hoofs wreaked havoc on the European continent, and General de Gaulle’s generous speech ignited the anger of resistance.
In the stormy haven of the beautiful Brazilian town of Tresco La Songis, King Pele was born on October 23.
Pele grew up in the shadow of poverty, his father was an unemployed player, and his mother made a living by doing odd jobs. When he was young, Bailey had to go to the street to shine his shoes and use his painted hands to add a meagre income to the poor family.
Fate is unfair to every slum child, but Bailey is different. He is both an unlucky man abandoned by God and an elf favored by Lady Luck.
At the age of 16, Pele came to Santos Club for trial, never thought that this young man, who had never received professional training, with the foundation laid by street football, won the appreciation of head coach Lula, “I think he is the only striker in the world who can focus on shooting the ball into the opponent’s goal.”
His extraordinary talent stunned the scouts, and the audience began to fantasize that years later, this young boy would set off a storm in world football.
In 1958, when the 17-year-old Pele entered the World Cup for the first time, the Brazilian team was not a strong team at that time. As for the fledgling Pele, no one would have thought that in the future, the reputation of “King of the Ball” would keep pace with his name.
In the 1/4 final, Pele scored the only goal in the game, which made the world remember his name. In the semi-final against the powerful French team, Pele once again saved the team, scored a hat-trick in the 23rd minute, and the 17-year-old became the leader of Brazil.
In the final against Sweden, Pele continued his hot form, scoring twice in the game, leading the Samba team to a 5-2 victory over his opponent, raising the Hercules Cup high in full view of the public.
At this point, the 17-year-old Pele was born and ascended to the throne of “king of the ball”.
Four years later, the more mature Pele made a comeback and once again led the motherland team to realize his dream of the World Cup.
In 1970, Pele, who had reached the age of 30, challenged the Hercules Cup again.
At this time, he has achieved success, is no longer an unknown young player, but the famous king of football. It was not only the screams of the fans, the shutter of the camera, the headlines of the newspaper, but also the fierce shoveling and rough fouls of the opponents.
Despite the danger, the Ball King is still unstoppable.
Bay used his excellent technology, ingenious creativity and tenacious willpower to overcome the attack of the “Fauvism” and successfully led the team to the finals.
Pele scored the 100th goal for the Brazilian national team with a header in the 18th minute against the Italian who is famous for his defense.
In this battle of the century, Pele not only set a new personal record, but also led the Samba team to lift the World Cup again after eight years.
The 30-year-old Pele, who has won the World Cup three times, deserves the name of the “king of the ball”.
The Ball King and the Shadow King
In private, Bailey has a wide range of interests and talents, and he can not only dominate the football field, but also make a successful career even if he moves to other industries.
In 1969, at the peak of his career, Pele entered the film industry and starred in Brazil’s own soap opera Aliens. As for the masterpiece of Bailey’s film and television career, 12 years later, he co-starred with the famous movie star Stallone in the film “the Escape of Victory”.
The film is set in Europe during World War II when Pele was born. German soldiers found famous football stars in the POW camp and immediately “invited” the POWs to form a football team to play a “friendly match” against the German team.
Bailey plays the black player Lewis, who is the main player of the POW team.
He was seriously injured in this “friendly match” and finally clenched his teeth and scored a key goal. This magical upside-down golden hook deeply shocked the hearts of the audience.
Lewis on the screen is not only a hero of the POW team, but also a portrait of the Ball King. As long as he stands on the court, a miracle will come, no matter how bumpy the process is, victory is the final destination.
Years later, speaking of his partners at that time, Stallone sighed: “when I saw those pictures again, I had a feeling of excitement.” I can’t help crying. I want to say to Bailey, thank you! ”
The thousandth ball
It is believed that many children born in a “non-fan family” and not interested in news broadcasting first heard the word “Bailey” in seventh-grade Chinese textbooks.
The title of the text is called “the Thousand Thousand Ball” and “Father and teacher”, which are excerpted from Pele’s autobiography.
“the Thousand Ball” tells about Pele’s psychological journey and experience when he scored the thousandth goal of his career. “it was not my intention to score my thousand goals with a free throw.” But at that time, you could kick in in any way, but everything would be all right! ”
Regret, tension, expectation, calm, through the description of psychological activities, Bailey will stand 12 yards ago, the desire and loss of a thousand goals in his career, describe vividly.
After the goal, the scene was instantly boiling. “photographers and reporters rushed up from behind the goal and surrounded me. Hundreds of spectators jumped off the stands, ignored the police, crossed the wetlands and rushed at me.”
After the game, Bailey sat quietly in the locker room seat, without joy or excitement, as if he just followed the fate of the gear to reach the intended track.
The next day, there were two headlines in Brazilian newspapers: one was that American astronauts Conrad and Bean landed on the moon for the second time, and the other was that Pele broke the 1000-ball mark.
“in my opinion, the importance of these two things can hardly be compared. But at that time, I was very happy that I finally broke the thousand ball mark. ”
Another story, “loving Father and teacher”, tells an interesting and meaningful story between Bailey and his father in his childhood.
Seduced by his buddies, Bailey was caught smoking for the first time by his father. Bailey thought: it’s over!
But when he got home, his father did not yell at him or even blame him, but gently asked him if he had a habit of smoking and how the tobacco tasted.
Bailey was surprised at her father’s attitude and gave a thorough account of what had happened.
Instead of getting angry, the father calmly persuaded his son, “you have some talent for playing football, and you may become a master in the future. If you smoke and drink, you can’t play football well.”
The father also said, “but if you still want to smoke, you’d better smoke your own cigarette. It’s shameful to always ask for other people’s cigarettes.”
His father’s earnest persuasion made the young Bailey feel deeply ashamed of his behavior, and he was determined never to touch tobacco again.
“if he had scolded me, it would have aroused my resistance,” Bailey recalled. “Today I will become a heavy smoker with bad habits.”
Today, Bailey has disappeared, and the textbook has long since disappeared.
Only the yellowing marks, wrinkled footers and vague cartoons still outline the outline of the green years.
The Chinese class that is still fresh in my memory, the touching text, and the first encounter with the King of the Ball will eventually cause ripples and aftertaste in the long river of time.
It was not only our youth, but also a time when we were lucky to be with the King of the Ball.
“Love the people you love. They belong to you, and you belong to them.” -Bailey
