[gossip board] TA: Chelsea Football Club is considering chasing Gwadior in the winter window because it refuses to pay too much transfer fee.

September 01-according to the latest report by The Athletic UK Chelsea reporter Simon Johnson, Chelsea are considering waiting until the winter window to consider chasing RB Leipzig centre-back Gwadior.
TA understands that the two sides are negotiating a deal to keep Gwadior in Germany, but no agreement has been reached yet.
Chelsea are believed to have reservations about reaching a formal agreement because RB Leipzig has raised its asking price. The initial negotiation was 70 million euros (60.5 million pounds), then rose to 80 million euros (69.2 million pounds), and finally 90 million euros (77.8 million pounds).
There are still more than 24 hours left in the summer window, and the opportunity for negotiations to move forward still exists.
The two clubs have a good relationship. Chelsea bought Timo Werner from Leipzig for £45 million in 2020 and earlier this month the new consortium agreed to sell the Germany international back to them for £25.3 million.
However, Chelsea’s position may partly explain why Oliver Minzlaf, chief executive of Leipzig, denied last night that a deal was imminent. He has been on their wish list all summer, but given that he will not play for Chelsea this season, they are reluctant to pay an exorbitant transfer fee to close the deal.
Chelsea’s new boss has acquired Verfana for a much lower price than Leicester City, suggesting they can negotiate forcefully. Leicester City is hoping for a world record defender transfer fee, more than the £80 million paid by Manchester United for Harry Maguire in 2019, but Chelsea ended up paying just £69.5 million.
