He said: Before joining Real Madrid, I had already negotiated a transfer with Barcelona.

Rodrigo said: “Before I joined Real Madrid, I had already negotiated a transfer with Barcelona. One day my father suddenly told me “You have two choices now, one is to go to Barcelona and the other is to go to Real Madrid”.
I was taken aback because I didn’t expect Real Madrid to want me. It was an easy choice for me and it was one of the happiest moments of my life.”
